Crackdown on narcotics: Cops freeze assets worth Rs 80L in Fatehabad

Hisar: The Fatehabad police have intensified their anti-drug crackdown, shifting the focus from mere arrests to dismantling the financial backbone of narcotics networks. In a series of coordinated operations, the police attached properties linked to two drug traffickers and seized heroin and poppy husk. Three accused persons were also arrested.Fatehabad SP Nikita Khattar said assets worth over Rs 23 lakh — with an estimated market value of nearly Rs 80 lakh — belonging to two alleged traffickers were attached under provisions of the NDPS Act. With the latest action, properties worth around Rs 1.75 crore linked to seven accused drug peddlers have been brought under legal scrutiny so far.In one case, the CIA Fatehabad attached a residential property spread across seven kanals allegedly owned by a habitual offender, Vikas of Dhani Dhabi Khurd village in Bhattu Kalan.The police claimed that the property, officially valued at around Rs 16.6 lakh, was disproportionate to his known income. Vikas faces multiple NDPS and criminal cases registered since 2019.In another case, the police impounded three vehicles allegedly linked to Hetram alias Hetu of Mahamda village, who was earlier arrested for smuggling poppy husk. The vehicles are collectively valued at over Rs 6 lakh.Separately, the CIA Tohana seized 40.6 kg of poppy husk hidden beneath raw bananas in a truck parked near Tohana grain market and arrested the driver, Sonu alias Bacchi, from Sangrur district.In another operation, the Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested two persons near Ratia with 101 grams of heroin.
