Cops bring gangster from Patiala jail, to question him for 2 days

Times News NetworkChandigarh: Police brought gangster Deepak alias Deepu Banur on production warrant from Patiala jail for interrogation in an extortion case and obtained his custody for two days on Tuesday.Recently, the police had arrested Deepu’s cousin and another associate for allegedly extorting money from businessmen in the Tricity. Ravi Kumar alias Ravi Banur of Banur, Punjab and Somdutt of Maloya allegedly collected around Rs 45 lakh from builders, owners of nightclubs, liquor contractors in the Tricity in the last six months and later transferred the money in bank accounts of other gang members. Police interrogation revealed that Ravi worked on the directions of Deepu, who allegedly used to make threat calls to businessmen for extorting money. Deepu then directed Ravi to collect the money from their targets and used it for lending, gambling and narcotics activities.Harinder Singh Sekhon, in-charge, operation cell, who had earlier worked in the cyber cell for several years, used his experience to trail the online transactions.
