Cop killed, another injured in Hisar road accident

Hisar: A head constable of the Fatehabad CIA team was killed and another sustained injuries in a road accident early Tuesday, when an Eicher canter hit their vehicle near Dhandhoor village in Hisar district. The deceased was identified as 40-year-old head constable Shamsher, a resident of Subhash Nagar in Hansi. The injured constable, Jasbir Singh, who was driving the vehicle, was admitted to Agroha Medical College for treatment.
According to the Sadar police station, an FIR was registered against the unidentified canter driver under relevant provisions of the Bhartiya Nyal Sanhita on the complaint of head constable Jasbir Singh, a resident of Shyamsukh village in Hisar.In his complaint, Jasbir Singh stated that he was posted as a driver with the CIA unit in Fatehabad. Late Monday night, following a tip-off received by CIA in-charge Vedpal, he and Havildar Shamsher were dispatched in a govt vehicle to the Sirsa toll plaza area in Hisar to verify information regarding a suspicious vehicle. After waiting for some time and failing to trace the vehicle, they began their return journey towards Agroha. At around 3.30 am, near the Dhandhoor bridge, an unidentified Eicher canter, while overtaking their vehicle, allegedly moved onto the wrong side of the road and collided with the Bolero. Both policemen sustained serious injuries in the accident. Head Constable Shamsher died on the spot, while Jasbir Singh was shifted to Agroha Medical College for medical treatment. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the canter driver.
