Cop injured as miscreants drag him in attempt to escape
Fazilka: A policeman was injured when some miscreants in a car dragged him while trying to escape a patrol party in the Arniwala area of Fazilka district.The injured policeman was admitted to the govt hospital in Fazilka for treatment.Police registered a case against the unidentified miscreants for attempted murder and are conducting raids to identify and arrest the accused.Paramjit Kumar, station house officer (SHO), Arniwala, said the police Sunday night received information regarding recurring incidents of transformer oil theft in the area and that some suspicious individuals were planning to steal the transformer fuel.Acting on the information, police personnel with the ‘112' emergency service were deployed in the area for patrolling. During the patrol, a police team attempted to stop a car on suspicion, he said.When the policemen tried to get the occupants out of the vehicle, the accused sped away. They dragged one policeman, Rakesh Kumar, for some distance, causing him serious injuries, Kumar added.Senior medical officer Dr Eric said that the policeman had sustained a head injury and was given first aid.MSID:: 131589097 413 |
