CHANDIGARH: Rattan Lubana of the so-called 'Cool Dude' gang, who extorted money from students of prestigious city schools had abused the sister of one of the youth who had complained against him in the court, and had also threatened to beat him up, along with the other complainant. Another accused Amitoz Singh had also repeated the threat to the complainants.
This complaint was filed by Ram Dhari Longia, reader of additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM) in April, which was finally converted into an FIR in the Sector 36 Police Station on Thursday, following which the Chandigarh Police booked both the accused on the same day. The two were earlier also booked with another companion for extorting money from school students.
The investigation in the case has revealed that the accused had made the threat to the two youths when they were returning from the courtroom soon after recording their statement in the extortion case. Now, the investigation team is all set to record the statement of all the people concerned, including the complainants, cops, and mother of one of the complainants under Section 161 of the CrPC to make a strong case against the accused.
Since beside both the youths, Ram Dhari is also one of the complainants and a key person in the case, the police feel their case is strong enough to be taken to its logical conclusion. "The ACJM's reader is also a complainant, and because he has come from the court's side, we have a strong case. We have already recorded his statement, and one more statement under Section 161 of the CrPC will also be recorded soon," said a senior police officer.
The investigation in the case has revealed that only two accused Rattan and Amitoz out of three who were booked in the previous case, are involved in the fresh case. Inspector Ram Dayal, SHO of Sector 36 police station, said: "We have produced Lubana before the court on Friday and filed the production warrant of Amitoz, who is in jail in the extortion case. After that, we will file the chargesheet in the court as soon as possible to take the case to its logical end."
On Friday, the court asked the police to produce Amitoz before it on Monday in the fresh case of threats to the complainants. Significantly, the probe to inquire into the complaint of threats was marked to the police, following the court's intervention, which had directed the cops in April to probe the issue in detail. Out of the two accused, Rattan Lubana, a resident of Kishangarh village, is the son of BJP's district president Bhajan Singh.
