Construction workers can get 51k under ‘Shagun’ scheme: Labour min

Chandigarh: The Punjab government has implemented various labour welfare schemes for the social and economic advancement of the construction workers, said minister of labour Anmol Gagan Maan here on Friday.
Giving details about the ‘Shagun’ scheme, the minister said the construction workers registered in Punjab were eligible to avail Rs 51,000 under the scheme for the marriage of their daughters.Each construction worker can benefit from this scheme for up to two daughters’ weddings, he said.
If a female construction worker is registered as a beneficiary, she is also entitled to avail the ‘Shagun’ amount for her own marriage, provided that her registered parents have not previously claimed the benefit for her marriage, the minister added.
She further said any registered construction worker can apply to avail ‘Sagun’ scheme within six months after the marriage of his daughter. tnn
