Cong’s united Punjab face at last ‘save MGNREGA’ rally
Bathinda: The Congress's last ‘MGNREGA Bachao Sangram' rally in Punjab drew in thousands of people at the venue in Guru Harsahai on Monday, as state leaders of the party put on a united face. Congress Punjab in-charge Bhupesh Baghel, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, former CM Charanjit Singh Channi, AICC secretary Ravinder Dalvi, MP Sher Singh Ghubaya, and former ministers Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Rana Gurjeet Singh attended the rally organised by party leader Ravinder Amla.
Addressing the rally, Baghel said winds of change had already started blowing in Punjab. Referring to the big gathering, he said the people of Punjab had already spoken out their mind a year ahead of the elections. The former CM alleged that the BJP govt had a deep aversion towards dalits and the poor, as it only wanted to help a select few industrialists and capitalists. Warring asserted that the Congress will not let the MGNREGA be scrapped at any cost. "The Congress will force the Modi govt to restore MGNREGA, as it ensured the livelihood of crores of poor people in India," he said. He warned that scrapping of MGNREGA will lead to chaos and anarchy. Channi said by scrapping a pro-poor and pro-dalit law like MGNREGA, the BJP reaffirmed its hostility and animosity towards marginalised sections of society.
