MOHALI: A day after Congress supporters allegedly attacked a SAD councillor in Lalru municipal council (MC), Mohali police is yet to arrest the accused. However, a case has been registered at Lalru police station.
On Sunday, Balkar Singh Rangi, a SAD councillor was watching a kabbadi match at Dappar village when he was attacked by a few persons. Congress supporters led by Gurdeep Singh, Jaggi and Sukhvir Singh climbed the stage, where Rangi was sitting, and attacked him.
In the attack he suffered head and neck injuries.

He was taken to civil hospital, Derabassi, from where he was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh. The police said the attack was the fallout of a two-month-old rivalry over change in political stands.
Lalru police station SHO inspector Gurcharan Singh said, "We have booked Gurdeep Singh, Jaggi and Sukhvir Singh by name and certain other persons, who are yet to be identified under various sections of of the IPC."
"The accused are on the run but we will arrest them soon," the inspector added.
