Congress, INDIA Bloc misleading public on G RAM G: MP Kartikeya Sharma
Yamunanagar: Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma on Saturday accused the Congress and the INDIA bloc of spreading misinformation about the VB G RAM G Act (Viksit Bharat Rozgar Ajeevika Guarantee Mission Gramin Bill, 2025), asserting that the new legislation was brought to ensure transparency, higher wages and justice for rural workers. Addressing a press conference at the BJP district office in Yamunanagar, MP Sharma thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the NDA govt for getting the landmark Bill passed in Parliament. He said the public, including the people of Haryana, fully understood the "face and character" of the Congress and the INDIA bloc, whose habit of repeatedly making false statements rendered them politically unreliable.
The press conference was attended by OBC Morcha working state president Madan Chauhan, BJP district president Rajesh Sapra, district general secretaries Narendra Singh Rana and Praveen Khadri, media in-charge Kapil Manish Garg, former chairperson Rosie Malik Anand, and several party leaders and office-bearers. Sharma alleged that Congress leaders deliberately misled MNREGA workers by issuing baseless statements. "If Congress had any genuine suggestions for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they presented them in the Lok Sabha. Instead, they flee from discussion and resort to walkouts, both in Parliament and in the Haryana Assembly, only to spread confusion later," he said. Highlighting the benefits of the new provisions, Sharma said Haryana has the highest wage rate in the country. With a minimum daily wage of Rs 400, every worker in the state would earn at least Rs 10,000 more annually under the new framework, taking the minimum yearly income to around Rs 50,000. In comparison, the daily wage is Rs 339 in Punjab and Rs 236 in Himachal Pradesh. He further stated that from Oct 2014 to Oct 2025, workers in Haryana were paid Rs 5,243 crore, compared to only Rs 1,854 crore during 10 years of Congress rule. An additional Rs 1,000 crore was allocated in the current financial year's budget, reflecting the govt's commitment to employment generation. Taking a dig at the opposition, Sharma cited the 2013 CAG report, which exposed large-scale irregularities during the UPA regime due to the absence of biometric verification and monitoring under MNREGA. He also referred to social audits in Punjab that revealed over 10,000 cases of financial misappropriation without any recovery or action. Sharma said the VB G RAM G Act was introduced to plug loopholes, prevent corruption, protect workers from exploitation, and ensure that public funds reach genuine beneficiaries. He also assured that issues such as the proposed Ambala–Panchkula railway line and other Haryana projects would be raised in the upcoming budget session of Parliament. MSID:: 126452133 413 |
