Bathinda: A large number of Congress workers participated in the Tiranga Yatra, led by Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, in Gidderbaha, Mansa and Talwandi Sabo on Saturday.
The PCC president has been participating in the Tiranga Yatra in different parts of the state to mark 75 years of independence of the country.
Speaking to mediapersons, Warring said he was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and support of party workers for the yatra. This was the last leg of the Tiranga Yatra that will conclude on Sunday.
“It is natural for the Congress workers to identify with the Tiranga”, he said, claiming that the party and its workers have lived and died with the Tiranga.
Earlier, the PCC president participated and led the yatra in Majha and Doaba regions.
He said it was good that people have been showing a lot of excitement and are keenly getting involved in the hoisting tricolour in their homes, vehicles and work places. But this is not happening for the first time, as parties like BJP will make us believe, but it has been happening for the last 75 years. Warring said the Tiranga Yatra was taken out by Congress all over India to mark the 75 years of independence. “You cannot separate the party from anything that is associated with the freedom struggle of the country,” he said. tnn
