Cong declares 17 candidates, 3 pending

The Haryana Congress on Wednesday released its list of 17 candidates for the upcoming Panchkula municipal corporation elections. Names of three wards 2, 14 and 16, however, have been kept pending. The list was approved by BK Hariprasad, in charge of party affairs in Haryana.Among the key names announced are Payal Sodhi from Ward No. 1, Rajnish Singla from Ward No. 3, Rajiv Chaudhary from Ward No. 4, Vijay Sharma from Ward No. 5, and Darshan Lal (alias DL Sharma) from Ward No. 6.For reserved seats, Pankaj Balmiki has been fielded from Ward NO. 7 (SC), Mukesh Sirswal from Ward No. 17 (SC), Amandeep Kaur from Ward No. 18 (BCB-W), and Nazma from Ward No. 19 (BCA-W).Other candidates include Usha Rani (Ward No. 8), Surinder Singh (Ward No. 9), Baljit Singh (Ward No. 10), Anju (Ward No. 11), Jagjit Sohi (Ward No. 2), Akshaydeep Chaudhary (Ward No. 13), Saraswati Devi (Ward No. 15), and Vikas Rana (Ward No. 20).With this announcement, the Congress has formally kicked off its campaign for the civic body elections in Panchkula. tnn
