Complainant withdraw application demanding re investigation of Bitcoin case
Chandigarh: The application moved by complianants to reinvestigate a Bitcoin case was withdrawn on Monday.
The district court had put the UT police on notice in the Bitcoin scam, as the complainants, Amandeep Singh and Manoj Garg of Chandigarh, had earlier claimed that the police was not taking the matter seriously and there was a need for thorough investigation so that the truth comes out.
It was also stated that, the police’s casual approach to the case would give undue benefit to the accused.
The application to reinvestigate was withdrawn, as the matter was pending before the Punjab and Haryana high court, said the complainants. The matter will now come up for hearing on February 4.
It was earlier argued that this was among the biggest scams of India, as many FIRs have been registered across the country. It was also argued that the main accused, Amit Bhardwaj, owner of Gain Bitcoin, had met them in Dubai where he lured them with handsome returns if invested in Bitcoin, a type of cryptocurrency. When the complainants realised that they were cheated, they registered a complaint to the Chandigarh police.
The Chandigarh police had submitted a chargesheet against Amit Bhardwaj, his brother Vivek Bharadwaj, Pankaj Adlakha, and Hemant Bhope in the bitcoin cheating case, in which they had duped a city-based businessmen of around ₹10 crore. Earlier, the police had submitted chargesheet against two other accused namely Sanchit of Delhi and Rajesh Kumar alias Raju of Rajasthan. They both were arrested from Delhi and the police stated that they both had direct links with Bhardwaj.
