Commotion outside Rohtak gas agency amid LPG supply concerns
Rohtak: A brief commotion broke out Friday morning outside a gas agency in Rohtak as a large number of residents gathered to obtain LPG cylinders.
The crowd assembled outside Ravi Gas Agency in Bohar village near the city, leading to a chaotic situation for some time.
The police were called to manage the situation after the people began crowding the agency premises. Following the arrival of police personnel, the situation was brought under control, and residents were asked to stand in line and complete their gas booking procedures.
Dr Praveen Nandal, owner of Ravi Gas Agency, said there was no need for panic as the supply of domestic LPG cylinders remained normal. According to Nandal, customers do not need to gather outside the agency since cylinders are delivered directly to homes after booking.
"People do not need to assemble at the agency. Whoever makes a booking will receive the cylinder at their doorstep. There is no major issue with the supply of domestic LPG cylinders," he added.
Nandal, however, admitted that the supply of commercial gas cylinders was currently affected.
"Commercial cylinders are not arriving from the supply side at the moment. Domestic cylinders are coming regularly, and delivery vehicles are being sent according to the bookings," he explained.
Police officials said they received a call from the agency reporting a disturbance.
ASI Jai Singh said: "We received a call in the morning that there was a commotion at the gas agency. We immediately reached the spot and informed people that everyone would receive gas. After that, people queued up and completed their bookings, and the situation returned to normal."
Meanwhile, some consumers expressed concerns about the new LPG booking rules and supply issues. Subhash, a resident of Azadgarh in Rohtak, said one cylinder was not enough for his family for an entire month.
"If we have to wait 25 days for the next booking, it becomes difficult for us. If gas is not available on time, we may have to rely on firewood for cooking," he said.
Employees associated with gas agencies said cylinders were now being dispatched based on confirmed bookings. According to a warehouse in-charge of a local gas agency, supply vehicles arrive at regular intervals, and all booked cylinders are delivered to consumers' homes.
At the same time, concerns are also being raised among businesses over the possible shortage of commercial cylinders. Hotel owners, sweet makers, and roadside eatery owners said if commercial LPG supplies remain affected, it could disrupt their daily operations.
