CHANDIGARH: Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh emphasised the need to evolve new methods of tapping alternate sources of renewable energy as the conventional natural resources coal, oil, natural gas and even water was on the verge of depletion.
Amarinder Singh made this observation here on Friday after installation ceremony of Ripjit Singh Brar, the younger brother of Congress MP Jagmeet Singh Brar, as chairman of Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA).
Amarinder said that it was a challenging assignment before Brar as there was a tremendous potential to tap the non-conventional sources of energy and assured him all possible support and cooperation for the implementation of new schemes and projects in PEDA.
He also asked Brar to launch a campaign to bring awareness amongst the masses about the concept of solar energy, as it was much cheaper and pollution free source of energy.
