FETEHGARH SAHEB: Four persons, including two children, were feared drowned when the car they were travelling in fell into Bhakra canal near Sirhind town of Fatehgarh Sahib district on Friday evening. A woman died after being dragged out by locals and police. Total seven persons of two families were travelling in the car. Only two of them could be rescued.
Police said that car had plunged into the canal after its tyre burst near Saundha village located on the Patiala-Ludhaina Highway. The incident occurred around 5:30 pm when the victims were going to visit a gurdwara in Fatehgarh Sahib.
Police said that families hailed from Thaska town of Haryana and Faizgarh village of Sangrur district. Two persons who were rescued were identified as Sher Singh, a resident of Thaska and Ranjeet Singh Rana from Faizgarh.
