Chrysanthemum show to be held in Dec, F&CC okays Rs 10.45 lakh

Chandigarh: The municipal corporation’s finance and contract committee (F&CC) on Thursday approved Rs 10.45 lakh to organise the annual 34th chrysanthemum show at the Terraced Garden in Sector 33. The committee has decided to hold the show in December. But the final decision will be taken while keeping in view the probability of the third wave of Covid.

However, the department of horticulture of MC’s engineering department has started preparations.
The chrysanthemum show is the city’s most popular after the Rose Festival, but due to the pandemic it could not be organised last year.
To facilitate the women shopkeepers in Sector 47 booth market, the finance and contract committee also approved the construction of a public toilet block at a cost of Rs 27.01 lakh. Besides, the F&CC also accorded approval for providing and fixing of 80mm-thick interlocking paver blocks along the green belt of Kajheri for parking in Sector 52 at an estimated cost of Rs 31.48 lakh.
The committee members also discussed the issue of parking lots throughout the city and asked the officers concerned to submit a detailed report within two days with a checklist of facilities to be provided by the contractors as per the norms finalised in the tender document.
The meeting was chaired by mayor Ravikant Sharma and attended by new commissioner Anindita Mitra and officers of the engineering department among others.
