CHANDIGARH: A dance competition for the slum children of Government School, Sector 24, was organised on Sunday jointly by Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes and Theatre Age. The chief guest on the occasion was Dr Vimal Kalia, principal of Desh Bhagat Dental College, Mukstar, who lit up the lamp to kick-start the proceedings. RK Nayyar, Punjab Secretary for Human Rights, presided over the festivities of the day.
"We have always supported the cause of providing a unique and equal opportunity amongst the community. Children are the most precious part of that and to watch glee in their eyes is truly rewarding. We hope to organise and cause more such functions and awakenings for them," said Dr Kalia on behalf of Dr Zora Singh, chairman of the Institutes. ......Mona Arora, administrator of the institute, said, "We often sponsor such programs and it is our aim to help all those who cannot afford to get such opportunities." A similar show was organised by the institute on Friday at Arizona, Sector 9 with a dance party for the children from Dadu Majra, Maloya, Kajheri, Nehru Colony, Janta, Bapudham, Mauli Jagran and Ram Darbar.
