Chandimandir’s Western Command Hospital gets Chief of Army Staff’s certificate of appreciation.

Chandigarh: Command Hospital (Western Command), Chandimandir, was awarded the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Unit Certificate of Appreciation at the Army Day investiture ceremony in Jaipur, in recognition of its exemplary professionalism, steadfast dedication and sustained excellence in military healthcare.The honour comes on the heels of the hospital securing second position in the Raksha Mantri Trophy evaluation of Armed Forces Hospitals for 2024-25, reaffirming its adherence to the highest standards of clinical governance and professional competence.
A premier tertiary-care institution of the armed forces, Command Hospital (Western Command) provides comprehensive and responsive medical support to serving personnel, veterans and their dependents, in line with the Army's ethos of selfless service. Under the leadership of Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, GOC-in-C, Western Command, the hospital has undergone significant capability enhancement focused on strengthening advanced patient care.Key milestones include the operationalisation of the bone marrow transplant programme, establishment of a state-of-the-art haematology ward, recognition as a Best Emerging National Organ Transplant and Retrieval Centre by the Union health ministry in Aug 2024, and accreditation as a kidney transplant centre.Infrastructure upgrades have also been undertaken, including a modern modular OT and ICU complex, a 20-bed oncology daycare centre for chemotherapy services, and improved patient amenities with the opening of an air-conditioned multi-brand food court in collaboration with Sanjivani Park.
