Chandigarh: Sports lit fest in city on Saturday

CHANDIGARH: A galaxy of sports personalities including hockey greats Ajit Pal Singh and Ashok Kumar from the 1975 World Cup winning team and wrestler-turned-politician Babita Phogat, are expected to grace the third edition of Play Write, a sports literature festival, to be held here on Saturday.
Announcing the event, Play Write co-founder and former bureaucrat Vivek Atray said the third edition aims to bring together sports personalities and authors who have written books on sports.The earlier editions of the event has seen well-known personalities various sporting disciplines taking part.
"Besides Babita Phogat and hockey greats Ajit Pal Singh and Ashok Kumar from the 1975 Indian team that lifted the world cup, Play Write 2020 will also have representatives from the India's women's basketball team and Frisbee team," he said. Seasoned shooters Anjum Moudgil and Gurjoat Singh Khangura were present at the launch of the event.
Another founder Chitranjan Agarwal, said, "The tri-city is the ideal venue for Play Write as the cricket World Cup semi-finals have been held twice (PCA Mohali) and the Davis Cup semi-finals have also been held (at CLTA) here. A number of sportspersons of international acclaim hail from Chandigarh and the region."
OP Singh, principal secretary sports, Haryana will be the chief guest on the occasion.
