The 10km run shall be flagged off at 6am and the most popular 5km run shall start from Rock Garden. Bands and cheering groups along the route will make the event all the more fun. "The marathon will be an experience so joyful and memorable that it would engage not just Chandigarh, but go beyond and be one more reason for Chandigarh to be a travel destination," said D K Tiwari, secretary, tourism, Chandigarh.
The first practice run along the route started at Rock Garden at 6.15am and about 30 enthusiasts from the Tricity participated in the event. Running And Living Infotainment has organized more than 100 runs across 10 states in the last few years. The founder is a marathon runner himself.
"The running route course starts at Rock Garden and winds past CGA, skirting Kishangarh village and returning via Sukhna Lake and past Leisure Valley to the Rose Garden and beyond at the other end. The route has been finalized for all Marathon runs. This city has so much to offer for a tourist and a great running event is yet another reason to come and run in the prettiest city in the country," said director, tourism, Tanvi Garg.
