CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Police has arrested one person with 50 vials of restricted drugs. The consignment consisted of 25 ampoules of pheniramine maleate of 10ml each and 25 ampoules of buprenorphine of 2ml each. The accused had been booked earlier for his involvement in five theft cases in the city, the police said.


According to information, accused Sarwar Khan, 36, is a resident of Maloya village.

Based on a tipoff, the accused was arrested from T-Point dividing road, Sector-39/C, Chandigarh. When asked to produce permit/ licence for carrying the drugs, he failed to produce any.

The police booked Sarwar under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs Psychotropic Substances) Act at Sector-39 police station. The accused said he committed the crime to fulfil his needs of drugs, as he is a habitual drug addict. Whenever he needed drugs, he would commit petty crimes.
