CHANDIGARH: Shashikant Rajput and Krishan Hooda advanced into the pre-quarterfinalsof theboysunder-18 singles at the St. Stephen’s School CLTA-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament being held at the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association Stadium here on Monday.
Shshikant, the fifth seed defeated Ravinesh Rai of UP in straight sets by conceding only one game 6-0, 6-1 while top seed Krishan Hooda played high level tennis and dominated throughout the match with his aggressive ground stroke to outclass Devanshu Hooda 6-3, 6-1. Bhupinder Dahiya, Aryan Thakur and Gurustat Singh Makkar also moved into the pre-quarterfinals.
In the boys under-16 singles, 2nd seed Ajay Singh and Sarthak Gandhi moved into the next round. Ajay defeated Lakshay Gupta in straight sets 6-3, 6-0. The seventh seeded Sukhpreet Singh Jhoje outplayed Dhariya Chadha 6-0, 6-0.
In the girls under-18, qualifier Vanshita Malhotra defeated Yashika Venu 6-0, 6-2 to progress to the pre-quarters. Simran Pritam and Harnoor Kaur Sidhu also advanced by registering thumping wins.
