CHANDIGARH: Two masked men allegedly robbed a cashier of an LPG gas agency of Rs 4.5 lakh and his motorcycle in Sector 25 on Saturday.
Dilip, a resident of Sector 52 working in Bharat Gas Agency in Sector 25, alleged he was going to Sector 42 to deposit the cash when the accused struck near the cremation ground around 6pm. He said his bag contained Rs 4.5 lakh.
The accused, however, did not take his mobile phone. Police said they have registered a daily diary complaint (DDR) and would register an FIR after verifying the allegations.
Police claimed the owner of the agency said he had given Rs. 3.6 lakh to Dilip while he is claiming Rs 4.5 lakh was in the bag. Police said they are scanning footage from CCTV cameras near the crime scene and verifying with people present in the area about the alleged
robbery.
On December 7, five miscreants robbed Rs 3.5 lakh and three mobile phones after taking a man hostage at gunpoint at his rented flat in Sector 63. On November 23, five miscreants snatched a Maruti Swift car from Prateek Gupta, a resident of Sector 37, from near the sector 37-38 roundabout. Police have not made arrests in any of the cases.
