CHANDIGARH: The much-awaited project to double rail track between Chandigarh and Ambala is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Keeping in mind the massive rise in number of passengers on a daily basis the project, which was mooted last year, will enable two trains to simultaneously reach Chandigarh station and also facilitate faster movement of trains.

Station superintendent Parveen Kumar, said, "The main motive of northern railway is to provide passengers with trains reaching or leaving at their correct time as much as possible and also make it convenient for fast moving trains, like Shatabdi Express, to move easily even if there is a slow or local train running on the track."
