CHANDIGARH: After much delay, CBSE Class X results of Panchkula region were declared on Wednesday evening. However, changes in slabs of grades made by the CBSE left the schools confused. Meanwhile, the number of students scoring Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 10 is relatively more as compared to last year.
The results which were late by over an hour, due to some technical snag, created curiosity among students.
As the schools were also closed by that time, students started ringing the CBSE helpline.
According to the figures, from total 14,515 students appearing in the board from Chandigarh, in around 70 private and 105 government schools, around 10,171 students have opted for boards while 4344 students (around 42%) students have opted for school based assessment. Around 5,000 students from across Tricity appeared in the Class-X exam. Surprisingly, toppers with CGPA - 10 at most of the schools, turned out to be those who had appeared for the school based assessment.
Though, almost all the students of private schools have opted for school based assessment, while all the students appearing in Class-X from government school have opted for the board exams. With nearly 500 students scoring the same CGPA, Tricity topper tag eluded students who were slogging for it.
CBSE Regional Officer R J Khanderao, while commenting over 2011 Class X results said the pass percentage in the region has certainly increased as compared to the last year. ''The pass percentage which was 78% last year has jumped to 98.9% this year, which includes Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, J&K and Chandigarh,'' he said.
