CBI inspector assaulted in Kurukshetra’s Mangna village, case registered
Kurukshetra: An inspector of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was allegedly assaulted while on duty at Mangna village in the Pehowa area of Kurukshetra district on Thursday.
The incident led to a case being registered against the accused, Nishan Singh, and several unidentified individuals.
As per the complaint filed by CBI inspector Inderjeet Arya, the Kurukshetra police booked Nishan Singh and others under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The charges include Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 121(1) (voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from duty), 132 (assault to deter a public servant from discharging duty), 190 (unlawful assembly with common intent), 191(2) (rioting), 221 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation). The case was registered at Pehowa police station on Friday.
Inspector Inderjeet recounted that he visited Mangna village to verify certain details related to Nishan Singh's son Jaskaran's foreign travel. Upon reaching Nishan's residence, he identified himself and inquired about his son, Jaskaran, who was reportedly away visiting a relative. The conversation seemed routine until Nishan Singh secretly called in a group of five-six young men.
"As soon as they arrived, they began hurling abuses and launched a sudden attack on me. I had no idea who they were, but I can recognise them if I see them again," said Inderjeet.
The situation quickly escalated as four-five men pinned him down, with one even attempting to strangle him while shouting, "He must be killed. Don't let him escape". Fighting for his life, the inspector somehow managed to break free and ran outside, only to be confronted by two more men, said the police.
"I pleaded with folded hands to let me make a call to my senior officer or the police, but they refused. They snatched my belongings and tore up my official documents. At that moment, I truly believed my life was in danger," he said. Just when all hope seemed lost, police officers arrived at the scene and rescued him.
SHO, Pehowa Sadar, inspector Vikrant confirmed that an investigation was underway following the registration of the case.
