The district administration, on Tuesday, initiated a toll free helpline for residents of Panchkula, to share information on crime, including wrongdoing against women, unclaimed child, child labour, child marriage, female foeticide, among others. Moreover, any parent desirous of adopting a child can also contact this helpline.

PANCHKULA: The district administration, on Tuesday, initiated a toll free helpline for residents of Panchkula, to share information on crime, including wrongdoing against women, unclaimed child, child labour, child marriage, female foeticide, among others. Moreover, any parent desirous of adopting a child can also contact this helpline.
Taking about the helpline, deputy commissioner of Panchkula Ashima Brar said, ''The officers of District Child Welfare Council are directed to take necessary steps to ensure fear-free atmosphere for women and children.

They have been asked to install hoardings at various public places.''
She said people should know whom to contact in case they need to share any information. Therefore, all necessary information should be displayed on hoardings.
The toll free number 1800-180-2056 would also be mentioned on the hoardings and it would be operational round the clock. Apart from this, the officers have been directed to take necessary steps for eradication of foeticide. ''We have decided to involve anganwadi workers, Asha workers and other health workers in this campaign for its effective implementation,'' informed Brar.
