Ropar: In a unique initiative to mark
International Women's Day, the proceedings of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha budget session on March 8 will be telecast live on big LED screens in Gambhirpur village of the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency, Punjab minister Harjot Singh Bains said on Saturday.
Bains made the announcement during a meeting in his native Gambhirpur village to review preparations for the budget session. He said the live telecast had been arranged so that local residents, especially women representatives, could witness the proceedings of the assembly.

The gathering was planned to bring together women leaders and representatives from across the constituency, including members of block samitis, chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, sarpanches, and panchas.
The minister said the initiative aimed to strengthen democratic participation and ensure citizens remained directly connected with the state's legislative process.
According to the minister, the budget to be presented on March 8 will reflect the govt's commitment to development, transparency, and social welfare. He said the govt implemented key initiatives, including providing 600 units of free electricity for domestic consumers, a benefit extended for the last four years and set to continue in the coming period.
Bains said finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema will present the state budget during the assembly session. He said the budget will focus on strengthening the education sector, infrastructure development, and welfare schemes aimed at improving the quality of life for the people of Punjab.
Highlighting the govt's focus on education reforms, he said the education revolution initiated by the govt was visible on the ground with significant improvements in schools and educational facilities.
The meeting ended with a call for all women representatives from the constituency to attend the March 8 gathering in Gambhirpur village to witness the budget presentation and celebrate International Women's Day while reaffirming support for the development initiatives of the state govt.
