She received her initial training in classical dance from the late Kanhiya Lal, the doyen of Jaipur gharana and later from Shobha Koser. At present, she is honing her skills under Brij Mohan Gangani.
She opened the programme with Krishna stuti, followed by traditional Kathak. Her rendition of “Yashodhara”, the story of Gautama Buddha from the perspective of his wife Yashodhara, was moving. The performance was a beautiful expression of Yashodhara’s love and sacrifice when Prince Siddhartha leaves home to seek enlightenment.
She was accompanied by Pandit Jawala Prasad on the harmonium and vocal, Vijay Sharma on sitar, Brij Mohan Gangani on padant, Ustad Akram Khan and Mehmood Khan on Tabla and Prakash on flute.
