BLOs learn to clean up voter rolls
Chandigarh: A four-day training is preparing booth-level officers to launch a door-to-door enumeration blitz with an app-based booking system to streamline the city’s voter verification process.
The data collection teams will eliminate errors ahead of future polls. The Chandigarh administration’s election department’s mandatory training for BLOs began on Saturday at MCM DAV College to prepare for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) ordered by the Election Commission of India.
Under the rollout, officials will visit every household to distribute and collect twin enumeration forms. Residents must sign and return one copy to their designated officer while retaining the second for their records. Alternatively, voters can update their registration online via the official federal voter portal.
During the field operations, officers will process new registrations and address objections or corrections.
Authorities have urged public cooperation to ensure accurate voter lists. Residents requiring assistance can access a dedicated helpline or schedule appointments with field officers via the ECINET mobile app.
