BJP MLA asks for 70% HP quota in pvt industrial jobs
Dharamshala: The issue of a native Himachali quota in the state’s private industrial jobs was raised on the floor of the House when Doon’s BJP legislator Paramjeet Singh accused industrial groups of flouting the 70% native job quota rule. In his reply, panchayati raj minister Virender Kanwar, said the government will form a committee to check the number of Himachali workers in the state’s private factories as MLA Paramjeet Singh had claimed that entire hinrings were on papers alone.
He said the state had 2,500 privae industries and most of those only accepted resumes from the Himachali youth but didn’t provide them with jobs. He claimed that the statement about having providid work to 70% of the state’s youth was false. He accused the state’s industries of committing fraud agains.
Congress’s Nalagarh MLA Lakhvinder Singh Rana said expectations of employment in industries were not being fulfilled and the department figures were false. He asked for a committee to verify the number of actual Himachalis recruited. Minister Virendra Kanwar said this committee of labour and industries departments will investigate and submit a report to the government.
He said that based on this report, the government will take action against the defaulting industries, of which 18 had been investigated and given show-cause notice. He said but the Himachalis must also show interest in working in the textile, cement, and steel industry, because theree were jobs and those were going to the labourers from outside the state. Congress MLA from Naina Devi, Ram Lal Thakur said that the government should punish those who defied the order. Pammi also demanded action against the pharmaceutical makers. of the same offence

Dehra’s independent MLA Hoshiyar Singh alleged that a scam to the tune of Rs 2.70 crores had hit the public works department in his assembly constituency. He accused the department of buying road safety equipment without building actual roads. He claimed that those were paper and roads with the benefit going only to the contractors. In his reply, Jalshakti minister Mahender Singh Thakur rejected these allegations and said the present state government worked in a transparent manner.
