CHANDIGARH: Former chief minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Tuesday that the BJP has become so nervous that it is unable to understand anything after seeing a clear defeat in the assembly elections.
Hooda stated that the government is constantly making baseless announcements that it cannot implement on the ground. He said the announcement of giving MSP on all crops is also one of them.

The former chief minister said while announcing the MSP on all crops, the BJP government of Haryana even forgot that the MSP is announced by the central government. “It is not in the jurisdiction of the state government. The state government also announced 15 such crops which are not grown in Haryana,” he said.
“The truth is that the central government has not mentioned the MSP guarantee anywhere in this year's budget, nor has it made any provision for it in the budget. Then on what basis is the state government making such an announcement,” he questioned.
“If the BJP is even slightly serious about MSP, then the central government should immediately bring a bill in the Parliament as per the announcement made by the Congress, which should have a provision for MSP guarantee. The attempt to mislead the farmers through mere verbal promises will not succeed,” he added.
Hooda said the BJP has made the farmers yearn for MSP during its entire tenure. “Every time the farmers had to take to the streets to get the price of every crop including wheat, paddy, sunflower, millet, maize, and mustard. There has not been a single season in which the farmers have not had to stage protests. During this BJP government, the farmers also carried out the biggest agitation in the history of independent India. In this, 750 farmers had to lose their lives. Still, the BJP did not agree to the MSP guarantee,” he added.
“Now elections are to be held in Haryana after 2 months. The code of conduct will be imposed after a month. No crop is going to come to the market within the next one month. In such a situation, there is no justification for BJP to talk about giving MSP at this time,” he pointed out.
