BJP flays AAP govt for ‘anti-industry’ decisions

Chandigarh: BJP national spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the AAP government in Punjab for taking anti-industry decisions. He said that despite the pre-poll assurance to the industry of providing electricity at Rs 5 per unit, many industrialists have apprised him that they were shelling out anything between Rs 7 to Rs 12 per unit when the power slabs are combined with other charges.
At the same time, thousands of assesses have been facing extreme hardships for the last two years about their pending value added tax (VAT) cases, he said. “In the last week of July, Punjab finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema had announced that the assessment of all pending VAT cases will be done within 15 days. However, even after a month, industrialists are awaiting notification to this effect,” said Shergill.
