BJP mulls new face for LS polls, gets new in-charge
Chandigarh: BJP national president Jagat Parkash Nadda on Saturday appointed former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani as Lok Sabha election in-charge for Chandigarh.
The BJP is likely to change its Lok Sabha candidate this time after repeating Kirron Kher for two terms.
According to sources, the BJP central leadership is upset with the local leaders, particularly over losing its councillor to AAP before the Chandigarh mayoral polls.

“Firstly, MP Kirron Kher has not been keeping well for the past few years. And then the ongoing infighting among the senior local leaders can seriously dent BJP’s chances to retain the seat. Which is why the party leadership may go for some famous face from outside for the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat. The serious discussions have started on the subject and the party will soon decide the candidate keeping all aspects in mind,” party sources said.
The sources said shifting of BJP’s councillor Gurcharanjit Singh alias Kala to AAP was seen as a major failure of the local leadership due to poor handling of the matter.
Meanwhile, Nadda has appointed former Chandigarh BJP president Sanjay Tandon as co-incharge for Lok Sabha election for HP.
