PANCHKULA: Another leopard was sighted near Panchkula came from Saketri road late Wednesday night. A Kaimbwala resident, Rajesh, returning home from work reportedly saw the big cat near Pir Dargah. He saw the four feet long leopard crossing the road while riding his bike.
Forest officials say leopards have been spotted numerous times in this area as it has thick vegetation.
Rajesh says, "I stopped seeing a cat like creature crossing the road. On a closer look, I could clearly see the leopard under the bright moonlight as it was a Poornima (full moon) night."
The leopard's roar scared him so much that he has vowed not to take the road ever. "I got very scared and my head went blank when I heard the roar. I sped out of the area as soon as I could and decided not to take that route ever. Rajesh approached the cops after seeing the leopard, who in turn informed forest officials.
"The wild cat comes towards this area in search of water during summer as the soil conservation department has done a lot of plantation here. I have sent a team to check if the sighting is true, though some part of Saketri falls under UT's care and not mine," says district forest officer (DFO) R K Sharma.
