CHANDIGARH: Two men died and their friend was injured after their bike rammed into an electricity pole on the road dividing sectors 16 and 17 early on Thursday.


While Amarinder Singh, 26, who was riding the bike, and Taranveer Singh, 21, died on the spot, Manpreet Singh is under treatment at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 16. All three were residents of Khuda Ali Sher.


Their families said Amarinder, Taranveer and Manpreet were part of a

bhangra

group and had gone to perform at Kalagram on Wednesday night. After the performance, they were on way home when their bike skidded and ran into an electricity pole on the divider of road separating sectors 16 and 17. Passersby called up the police, who took them to Sector 16 hospital. While Amarinder and Taranveer were declared brought dead, Manpreet is stated to be out of danger. Police said Amarinder was wearing a turban, but pillion riders Taranveer and Manpreet were without helmets. The three were scheduled to fly to Oman for a bhangra performance on July 10.
