Panchkula School bags first three ranks and quite a few students got more than 90% marks.

CHANDIGARH: Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, has made its mark by hogging top three positions in CBSE class X results which were declared on Saturday.
Ankita Gulati from Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, stood first scoring 97.4% marks. The second position had two claimants- Nikita Saxena of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, and Meenal Gakhar of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh- who got 97.2% marks each.
Four students of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula-Pranshul Bansal, Silky Mittal, Charu Sharma and Garima Daga - were bracketed together with 97% each.

"I never expected to top the charts. This distinction has boosted my confidence. Since morning I have been eating laddoos and busy taking congratulatory calls of relatives and acquaintances. I am going out to dine with my family," said elated Ankita.
Sounds cliched, but she has her family to thank for her success. And her mother is ecstatic. "We are very happy with Ankita's performance. She has done us proud," she said.
Quite a few students got more than 90% marks. Manav Mangal School had 11 of its students above 90% mark while Carmel Convent School boasted of 30 students above 90%.
Bhavan Vidyalaya had 36 students with 90% marks and above, KBDAV had 24 students, Shishu Niketan Model Senior Secondary School 22, AKSIPS 14, and St Annes Convent School had 20 students above 90% marks.

The overall pass percentage has increased slightly- this time it was 82.41% compared to last year's 82.21%. But pass percentage for girls and boys has experienced a slight drop. For girls, it was 84.14% this time compared to 84.33% in 2005.
For boys, the pass percentage was 81.21% this time whereas in 2004, it was 80.68%.
In school-wise report card, government schools have improved their performance this year. This year the pass percentage of government schools is 58.16%; it was 56.65% in 2004-05. As many as 5,928 students appeared for class X from 77 government schools.
The model schools 48 in number have also improved their performance and come out with flying colours.Overall, 73.58% examinees passed this year while the figure was 71.65% last year. The pass percentage of non-model schools has also improved compared to last year.
The pass percentage of Kendriya Vidyalaya was 86.95%. While government schools clocked pass percentage of 58%, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and independent schools got the pass percentage of 90.37% and 85.82% respectively.
