Bharangam & Sarang festival begins at SUPVA Rohtak
Chandigarh: The grand four-day ‘Bharangam' and ‘Sarang' festival was inaugurated at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, on Monday. Chief guest Manoj Tiwari, Bhojpuri singer and MP from North East Delhi, captivated the audience with his popular songs. The ‘Sarang' festival, which began around 11 am, continued until 5 pm, showcasing various cultural performances in the courtyard of the university's FTV department. The event ‘Bharangam' started in the mini auditorium, organised by the National School of Drama. In the evening, play ‘Umeed: Manushya Zinda Hai' was staged. Manoj Tiwari mentioned DLC SUPVA in his songs and repeatedly requested the vice-chancellor, Amit Arya, to invite him to the university again.
Vice-chancellor Amit Arya, along with his team, welcomed the guests. First, the guests offered floral tributes to the statue of the Surya Kavi Pandit Lakhmi Chand installed on the campus. After that, the flags of ‘Bharangam', the ‘Sarang' festival, and the university were hoisted, and the programme began with the lighting of lamps. During this time, MP Manoj Tiwari, along with Bollywood actor Yashpal Sharma, Olympic medal-winning wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, wrestler and model Sangram Singh, senior NSD theatre artist Vidyanidhi, Rohtak DC Sachin Gupta, filmmaker Atul Gangwar, Haryana State Women's Commission chairperson Renu Bhatia, and social worker Subhash Ahuja were primarily present.All the guests viewed the photo exhibition displayed in the university gallery. Manoj Tiwari was quite impressed by the rangoli made there and congratulated the team who created it. Vice-Chancellor Dr Amit Arya, along with his team, honoured all the guests by presenting them with shawls and mementoes.Actor Yashpal Sharma said having such a large international theatre festival ‘Bharangam' at DLC SUPVA is a big deal.
