CHANDIGARH: Students seeking admission in BCom under the reserved category faced a tough time during their counselling at Panjab University (PU) on Monday. While many said they waited for endless hours for their turn, others rued the lack of basic facilities.
Students alleged the official site of PU gave wrong information about the timings. Swati Marwah, who had come from Pathankot in Punjab, said the official site asked students having roll numbers from 450 to 1,200 to attend the counseling.

"Now, they are announcing that they will counsel only 500 out of the 750 called here. I am really stuck and do not know what to do next."
Muskan Verma, a resident of Sector 42, too slammed the university. "Our counselling was supposed to start at 1pm and now its 2pm and they haven"t finished with the first group of students. If they shift my counselling for tomorrow, I will be in trouble as I have to go to another university. And that seems likely as I have 20 more students waiting for their turn before me," she said.
R K Gupta, coordinator, BCom counselling, PU, said, "We cannot start counselling a new group before finishing the first one. Students should learn to be patient as we are being patient with them." But students grumbled about other issues too.
Ayush Rai, who came all the way from Haridwar in Uttarakhand, was quite disappointed with the arrangements. "I thought I was going to take admission in one of the best universities but that certainly does not seem to be the case. We are standing in a long queue since morning but drinking water is not available at any place nearby," he complained.
