Autumn fest kicks off at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College

Chandigarh: Sri Guru Gobind Singh College's postgraduate department of English hosted its annual inter-college literary festival, Autumn Muse 2025, with over 350 students from 15 institutions participating in it.The festival was inaugurated by Arvinder Kaur, author, translator, poet, and former principal of Government College, Dera Bassi. She stressed the importance of pausing and expressing thoughts to nurture creativity among students.Guests of honour included members of the Sikh Educational Society — Gurdev Singh (president), Jasmer Singh Bala (secretary), and Karandeep Singh Cheema (joint secretary). Principal Jaswinder Singh appreciated the department's efforts in organising the event and encouraged students to engage with literary and cultural activities beyond academics.Competitions included poetry recitation, debate, elocution, essay and poetry writing, short story, short-film review, handwriting, caption writing, and dialogue translation. Among the winners were Nandini Sharma (poetry recitation), Kanishka (debate), Amit Sharma (elocution), Nausheen Parveen (essay writing), Pia (poetry writing), Jannat (English handwriting), Ramanjot Kaur (Punjabi handwriting), Raya Gilhotra (short film review), Stanzin Chosdon (caption writing), Reet Bedi & Raman Preet Kaur (dialogue translation), and Mandeep Singh (short story writing). The festival concluded with prize distribution, celebrating literary talent across the region.
