ASI held for taking bribe of 10,000

Chandigarh: The Punjab vigilance bureau on Saturday arrested assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Balwinder Singh, posted at police station Sandour in Malerkotla district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
The ASI was arrested on the complainant of Mohammad Sadiqe, a resident of Noor Basti in Malerkotla city. The complainant told the vigilance bureau that Balwinder had demanded Rs 10,000 as a bribe to cancel a police case registered against him and his family members.
Following the complaint, a vigilance bureau team laid a trap and arrested the accused police official while taking bribe. TNN
