CHANDIGARH: Students of Chandigarh College of Architecture are going international.
Fruits of the budding architects'' creativity -- innovative handbags, file covers, notepads and unique nametags -- would be presented to delegates of Unesco World Heritage Centre''s Second Regional Meeting on Modern Heritage (Asia), which begins in the city on Monday.

A team of nine students of the second and fourth year have been working roundthe-clock on these items for the last three weeks.
Now they are more than anxious to find out how delegates respond to their ecofriendly recycled paper creations.
Quiz them a little on their choice of recycled paper and their chorus answer is, "Recycled paper speaks of conservation and preservation. And the Unesco conference is also about preserving heritage of modern architecture."
The basic designing, is done by faculty members including Kiran Joshi who is associated with Unesco World Heritage Centre, and Sangeeta Bagga Mehta, a college lecturer.
The use of manhole covers as the base of handbags is noticeable. Joshi explains,
"Something as simple as manhole covers were designed with tremendous planning by Le Corbusier --effort in planning the city would have been tremendous. We have used manhole covers on the bags and folders along with the Unesco emblem to signify love and care."
