Patiala: Union sports minister Anurag Singh Thakur on Saturday claimed that Punjab faced “lawlessness” due to its “weak state leadership” and not its police that had brought terrorism to an end earlier.
About the tension on the China border, he said India was a peace-loving country but also capable of surgical strikes in the enemy’s territory if provoked. He accused Congress MP Rahul Gandhi of lowering the morale of the Indian soldiers who had resisted the Chinese aggression at Doklam. Punjab Police are not weak, since they controlled terrorism, while the state’s political leadership has now surrendered to the gangsters.” He said, "The level of arms smuggling through the international border in Punjab is worrisome, while Punjab’s money is being on the other states.” He dedicated upgraded NIS hostels to Dhyan Chand and P T Usha. The renovation has cost the institute Rs 5.25 crore.
