Chandigarh: Mohali district court on Saturday dismissed the anticipatory bail applications of Jasmeen Kaur, wife of Ferozepur deputy commissioner (DC), and others accused in the guava plantation compensation scam. Jasmeen Kaur had allegedly taken Rs. 1.17 crore by forging records and misrepresenting facts.
After a notice was given by Gamada to acquire land in Bakarpur village in Mohali, the senior officials and other persons were arrested by the vigilance in a case of fraudulently taking compensation of Rs 1 crore from the government for purchasing land or taking contracts for planting guava orchards.
Additional Sessions Judge
Sandeep Singla's court dismissed the petitions filed in the district court of Mohali.
Jasmine Kaur's lawyer has appealed before the court that they were ready to return the compensation they received from the government. However, the judge did not accept the same.
Last week
Gurpreet Kaur, another accused, had also filed an anticipatory bail application in the high court, requesting relief on grounds that she was 62 years old and was ready to return all compensation received from Gamada. However, the court did not give any relief and fixed the next date of hearing for June 14, 2023.
