Amritsar to get cable car service

CHANDIGARH: The chief minister announced that sky transport service will be launched in the holy city of Amritsar to facilitate pilgrims and tourists. Cable cars with capacity of 30 passengers each will be started to connect places of eminence in Amritsar and the Wagah border.

As petrol and diesel cess worth Rs 170 crore was pending with the central government, the chief minister said he had on Thursday flagged the issue with Union minister Nitin Gadkari and sought Rs 250 crore from him. Gadkari has agreed to give the state Rs 80 crore in advance, he added.

The CM said as December is the time of mourning since the family of Guru Gobind Singh was martyred in this month, the state government will not hold any function of joy and happiness from December 20 to 30.

Nitin Gadkari inaugurates country's tallest national flag at Attari-Wagah border in Punjab's Amritsar

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the tallest national flag in India, measuring 418 feet, at the Attari-Wagah border in Punjab's Amritsar district. The flag was installed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The flag is a horizontal tricolour with saffron at the top, white in the middle, and green at the bottom. It features a navy-blue wheel in the center, representing the chakra. The design was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India in July 1947.

Agniveer dies of 'self-inflicted injury' along LoC in J&K's Rajouri: Army

An Agniveer named Amritpal Singh died from a self-inflicted gunshot injury along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The Army is conducting a Court of Inquiry to determine further details. Singh's body was transported to his hometown with military personnel attending his last rites. The White Knight Corps stated that Singh died from a self-inflicted gunshot, which is why no military funeral was provided.
