Anupreet Kaur of the same school and Manpreet Kaur of Dashmesh High School Behram, Nawanshahr, bagged the second position, while Ramandeep of Doaba Public Senior Secondary School, Dharowal, Hoshiarpur, and Prateek Singh of Springdales Public School, Sangrur, jointly held the third rank.

The top position took aspiring doctor Harneet by surprise. Daughter of a veterinary doctor from Othian village, near Amritsar, she had missed the top slot in class VIII exams by three marks. Harneet attributed her success to her teachers and parents.
An upbeat Anupreet, a businessman''s daughter said that she wanted to be a lecturer and thanked God. Closer home, Ravneet Kaur of Vikram Public School, Kharar, stood sixth in the state and first in Ropar district, while Hatinder Preet Kaur of Gem Public School, Mohali, stood seventh in the state and second in the district.
