Amritpal to face trial in Ajnala attack case from May 2

Amritsar: An Ajnala court on Friday ordered the trial against jailed Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha MP Amritpal Singh in connection with 2023 police station attack case be transferred to the Amritsar sessions court. The next hearing will take place on May 2, marking the formal start of the trial.The order came after the police presented a charge-sheet before the court, and Amritpal Singh appeared before it via a video link. He is currently lodged in Assam's Dibrugarh Central Jail. At the last hearing, the court had remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. On Feb 23, 2023, Amritpal Singh, chief of Waris Punjab De, along with hundreds of supporters, attacked the Ajnala police station to get one of his aides released from the custody of police.
