Akash missile creator hails ‘Make In India’ success in defence sector

Hisar: India's indigenous defence capabilities are strengthening national security and providing boost to friendly nations, the architect of the Akash air defence system, Dr Prahlada Ramarao said on Thursday. He was speaking at the Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology.Dr Ramarao, former Defence Research and Development Laboratory director, was the keynote speaker at the inaugural session of a two-day international conference Viksit Bharat 2047. The event, organised by Vigyan Bharati (Haryana) in collaboration with the varsity, focused on the intersection of science, technology, and innovation.During his presentation, Ramarao explained the technical aspects of the Akash missile system in neutralising targets. He said that a blend of ancient traditional knowledge with modern innovation is essential for India to regain its historical position as a global leader in science.The conference also featured insights from other experts from Vigyan Bharati and Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council.
