Akali leader's bus hits two bikers, locals vandalize it

BATHINDA: A bus of New Deep transport company, owned by Shiromani Akali Dal leader Hardeep Singh alias

, was damaged by angry locals after it hit a motorcycle in Faridkot on Monday.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus was going to Amritsar from Faridkot when it hit Harpreet Singh (40), a resident of

Mudki

village, and his daughter

(17), who were on a motorcycle near Kaler village on the Faridkot-Amritsar highway. The father and daughter were taken to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College in Faridkot and were out of danger.

Dimpy Dhillon, who contested the Punjab assembly elections from

Gidderbaha

constituency and lost, said, “I am inquiring into the incident and if the driver is at fault, will take action against him.“

said a case of rash driving had been registered against the bus driver.

“We are also looking into the damage caused to the bus,“ he said.
