Aide of slain gangster held with pistol

Mohali: The Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested Harinder Singh alias Soni, an associate of gangster Tajinder Singh alias Teja who was killed in police action at Bassi Pathana, Fatehgarh Sahib, three days ago, from his hideout in Lohgarh, Zirakpur.
Police said Harinder, a resident of Lohgarh, attempted to fire at a AGTF team. Police said they recovered a foreign-made pistol and six cartridges from him. Sources said Harinder is suspected to have supplied Mahindra Thar used in other crimes by Tajinder Singh.
AGTF ADGP Pramod Bhan said, “We have arrested Harinder. He had supplied a vehicle to Teja used in a crime and is said to be an active gang member.”
Sources said Harinder had played a role in the Phillaur shootout in which Punjab Police constable Kuldeep Singh Bajwa had died on January 8, 2023. Tajinder Singh was the main accused in the case. Tajinder Singh was handling a gang associated with Gurpreet Sekhon gang, said sources. Police on January 14 had already arrested Yuvraj Singh alias Jora, one of the key accused in the Phillaur shootout.
